Tampeños looking to get dumped are in luck.

Shanghai Dumpling House recently opened near the University of South Florida’s Tampa campus, taking over the former home of Boil Spot Hot Pot and BBQ and adding another dumpling-focused spot to Tampa’s growing lineup of casual Asian eateries.

The restaurant’s menu is centered around its wide variety of soup dumplings—offered steamed, pan-fried or in different flavor variations, including options like scallop and black truffle. Much of the appeal comes from the made-to-order approach, with dumplings prepared fresh and assembled in view of diners.

Beyond that, the menu branches out into familiar comfort dishes like wontons in chili oil, scallion beef pancakes and stir-fried noodles, along with heartier plates like braised beef shank and noodle soups. A list of desserts and drinks rounds things out, including mochi ice cream and brown sugar sticky rice cakes, plus classic boba teas.

Shanghai Dumpling House, located at 1120 E Fowler Ave. in Tampa, is open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. daily and closed on Tuesdays. More information is at shanghaidumplingfl.com.
