Siesta Key Oyster Bar (SKOB) put its defaced dollar bills to good use by selflessly deciding to scale the walls and strip down $15,000 over the course of a month.
Why? To donate for relief to the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian left the island devastated while possibly killing thousands.
The bar's general manager Kristin Hale told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune that SKOB's donation total could grow larger if they take more off the walls.
"We're actually kind of shocked the bills were useable," she said. "Hopefully, those dollars weren't detrimental to the structure of the building."
SKOB took efforts a step further by throwing "It Takes a Village," and event where local bars including Daiquiri Deck Raw Bar, 3.14 Pi Craft Beer & Spirits, and Gilligan's Island Bar banded together on Sunday, September 29. Custom T-shirts were up for grabs, and all proceeds benefited to the Bahamas Red Cross Relief Program.
Cheers to Siesta Key Oyster Bar for disrupting their aesthetic to an investment in good karma and to help rebuild the Bahamas after the tragedy.
