To celebrate its grand opening in downtown St. Pete, The Simple Greek plans to offer a signature menu item this week for $1.

The build-your-own gyro is among the dishes that the fast-casual restaurant brand — which opened in St. Pete at 312 Third St. S. on Feb. 15 — is known for. Limited to one per person and usually priced around $7, the discounted sandwiches are up for grabs from the new location between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday.

Simple Greek diners are welcome to fill a white or wheat pita with their choice of protein, toppings and sauce. But here's a bonus: They have the chance to win free gyros for a year, too, by signing up for the restaurant's "Pita Perks" rewards program.

You're already there, so why not?

Simple Greek St. Pete is part of the AER apartment complex and neighbors with the forthcoming Bento Cafe. The restaurant brand also operates locally in Carrollwood, but that outpost is "temporarily closed for renovations," according to its website.
