After almost four years as Downtown St. Pete's go-to spot for sophisticated Southern and Low Country cuisine, Savannah's Cafe recently announced that they'll be closing their doors after Sat., May 28, due to "trying economic times." Owner John Warren sent out a newsletter last week with the announcement.

Savannah's is throwing a Farewell /Guest Appreciation Party on Friday, May 20. The restaurant will be open from Wednesday until Sunday each week through the end of May.

"Hopefully one day we will be back, but until then I look forward to seeing you around this great city," Warren told his patrons.

St. Pete will surely miss Savannah's sinful shrimp and grits and loaded mint juleps — as well as the free parking on Rays game nights.
