Tampa restaurateur and chef Kim Bailey has teamed up with South Tampa's Carmel Kitchen to bring his distinct style to weekend brunches. The new service is called Bailey's Brunch at Carmel.
According to Carmel operating partner Anthony Eaton, the eatery knew of Bailey's quality and local following from his past ventures in Hyde Park and Davis Islands and sought a partnership to enhance Carmel's weekend brunch offerings.
The new Southern-influenced menu, with items like buttermilk biscuits and gravy, blueberry muffins and the "Best-Grits-On-The-Planet," kicked off this past weekend.
"We only had five brunch items prior to this," Eaton said. "Having Kim here adds content and quality to our menu, and the response has been great over the last two days."
Carmel plans to use its South Tampa restaurant to test the brunch market. If successful, the service — running 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays — will expand to its other locations.
