On Tuesday, that time of the week diners nationwide regularly observe as Taco Tuesday, O Cocina in South Tampa announced its permanent closure on Facebook.
"O COCINA IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED AS OF TODAY JULY 10, 2018," reads the short update on the modern Mexican restaurant's page.
O didn't elaborate on why it was shuttering in the Facebook post. However, a call to the restaurant offered this voice mail message:
"Thank you for calling O Cocina. O Cocina is permanently closed as of Tuesday, July 10. We will reopen under a new concept in a couple months."
O opened its doors at 4110 Henderson Blvd. in April 2016. A beloved feature of the restaurant was the unusual, L-shaped mosaic of colorful succulents behind the bar, whose fate is now unknown.
But back on Facebook, in the comments of yesterday's update, at least one person asked the real question on everyone's minds: "Is the wall for sale?"
Editor's note: This story has been updated since its original publication to reflect that the Facebook page of O Cocina was deleted.
