St. Pete Beach food scene welcomes four newcomers

Four new food destinations recently popped up in St. Pete Beach, including a bistro and bakery that offers up handmade crepes.

Savory on the Beach, launched about four weeks ago at 4393 Gulf Blvd. next to Gigi's Italian Restaurant, stuffs its crepe orders with honey cream cheese and fresh berries before they're finished with caramel, powdered sugar and whipped cream.

Brioche French toast, apple pie pancakes and egg-stuffed burritos are among the spot's other breakfast options, while offerings like specialty sandwiches, fresh salads and quiche are featured during lunch. There's also a lineup of sweets and bread.

Opening its doors at 4599 Gulf Blvd. around the same time as Savory, the Sea Turtle Restaurant, which is neighbors with The Drunken Clam, carries items that range from biscuits and sausage gravy to seafood entrees and British delicacies. Global wines and brews are on hand at the baby blue eatery's bar, too.

The region's newest Dippin' Dots shop at 4667 Gulf Blvd. is serving up its signature futuristic creations next door to Publix at Dolphin Village. Cups of the kid-adored ice cream beads are featured alongside yogurt, ice cream and flavored ice.

Greenbacks, formerly located in Clearwater Beach and now occupying St. Petersburg Nights' old space, operates as a beach bar, Mexican grill and live-music venue all in one. The 13-year-old "entertainment cafe" at 6800 Sunset Way showcases an affordable menu with various fast-casual fare, including nachos, rice bowls, quesadillas and tacos. The gaming center and full-liquor bar are additional highlights.
