A new bar offering hundreds of specialty craft shots is coming to St Petersburg.
Located at 269 Central Avenue, Pour Judgement will appropriately offer over 269 craft shots (a hit tip to the address) and plans to open in the former Tamiami space later this month.
From the owners of One Night Stand, the new shot bar will feature the five main liquor groups (whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila and rum) among others, as well as popular cocktails in miniature shot form.
The bar’s Instagram already has a few examples of what’s on the menu, including a “That’s My Jam” shot and a “Right Twix, Left Twix.”
"The craft shots range anywhere from more traditional shots (with superior and/or creative products), completely new shots, and tastings which are cocktails that have been transformed into a shot. So many people don't actually know what they like and are too timid to try something new. At Pour Judgement, you can try the cocktails you see in movies or from another time period at a lower price," Melissa Powell—who's opening the bar along with Jo Moledo plus the crew from One Night Stand (Michael Jennings, Jerrad Atkin, Billy Orfanakos and Miles Duncan) wrote in an email to Creative Loafing Tampa Bay.
"Don't know if you like an Old Fashioned, try the shot. Still made the traditional way, but not as expensive and faster to drink. There's nothing worse than watching a drink water down in front of you as you try to force yourself to drink it even though it's not your cup of tea."
Powell wrote that any shot can be turned into a craft cocktail for a $2 upcharge and added that the vibe of Pour Judgement pays homage to vintage Saint Petersburg "with murals painted by the Vitale Brothers and Chris Baez."
The corner of the bar even features a giant mural of Frank Sinatra with a baby grand piano on stage that has been turned into the DJ booth.
Despite the pandemic and insanely strict bar rules, Pour Judgement plans to open on Friday, August 21 (looks like gourmet pressed sandwiches are on the menu).
