Hawkers Asian Street Fare is welcoming Chinese New Year with giveaways and live performances. In St. Petersburg, the EDGE District street food restaurant's Year of the Pig celebration will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5.
Guests will receive traditional red envelopes, which parents usually stuff with "lucky money" and positive wishes for their kids. They're encouraged to use what's inside to tip performers participating in the lion dance and kung fu demonstration.
In addition, Hawkers plans to hand out giveaways in hundreds of red envelopes. Some patrons will snag $5 "bonus fare," while others score free roti, wok-fried lettuce or edamame.
Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year, is an important holiday observed at the turn of the Chinese lunar calendar. Ready to celebrate?
