Orlando’s Foxtail Coffee Co. opened its St. Petersburg location last week at 730 4th St. N near Historic Round Lake Park.

Foxtail's opening means it joins the Sunshine City’s lineup of small coffee shops that have turned themselves into local chains (see: Black Crow, Craft Kafe, Kahwa Coffee).

The Foxtail location took over the old Mini Doughnut Factory space, and it’s the chain's first location in Tampa Bay, which is no stranger to local coffee shops and roasters. While St. Pete has its own coffee scene, crossing the bridge will take you to Tampa’s best offerings, including Spaddy’s, King State, Buddy Brew and Blind Tiger Cafe, which have become local favorites over the years.

Foxtail's opening also comes two years after the company named a new COO in wake of 2018 sexual harassment allegations against former COO David Sievers.

If you want to try Foxtail for yourself, order online and take it to go, or plant yourself in its indoor or outdoor seating and use the free WiFi while you sip your brew.

The offerings are what you’d expect: espresso options like lattes, cappuccinos or Americanos, cold brew and hot options like drip, french press or pour over. You can get your matcha tea fix or choose from Foxtail’s other dozen options like earl grey or “Blue Lagoon” (yes it’s blue, yes we’re excited to try it).

Snacks include a breakfast sando, one of the pastries or even the quiche. If you want to take some home, you can grab a bag of beans and bottled cold brew.
