St. Pete's Getaway gives its new food menu Florida edge

Barbecue and Sunshine State-inspired seafood items to outfit The Getaway's lineup of grub.

The Getaway, a St. Petersburg waterfront bar that's invited food trucks to post up at its digs since opening last year, will unveil its own food menu Saturday, May 23. The varied lineup will feature state-inspired dishes crafted by local chef Ted Dorsey as well as offerings from Tampa's Holy Hog Barbecue.

Ranging from $5 to $23, yellowfin tuna nachos, a lobster BLT salad with pork belly croutons, a smoked amberjack spread and "lobster pops" will be offered alongside a seafood sauce and raw bar featuring horseradish crema, oysters on the half shell done four ways and more. An island-style ketchup bar is planned, too.

Brisket, loaded potato salad, baby back ribs, smoked chicken and corn fritters will be among the Holy Hog highlights, and the joint's 'cue will be used in other new items, including the Beach Tacos and Burnt End Jalapeño Poppers.

"It's a perfect mix of food and fun," said Dave Burton, Getaway managing partner, in a statement.
