Central Florida-based Hitchcock’s Markets plans to take over the Lucky’s Market St. Petersburg location after it closes due to bankruptcy.

The St. Petersburg Lucky’s, which is at Tyrone Square Mall, 6765 22nd Ave. N, is set to close Feb. 12.

Hitchcock’s, which describes itself as “well-stocked, clean and service oriented,” already has 10 other Florida locations, and the chain’s website says another one will open soon in Homosassa.

The purchase comes after Lucky’s announced two weeks ago the closure of all of their Florida stores, except one location in Melbourne, which will apparently now be purchased by the grocer’s founders.

Since then, Southeastern Grocers (Winn Dixie’s parent company) said they will take on the Lucky’s locations in Naples, Fort Myers, Gainesville, Lake Mary and Melbourne. While, Portuguese immigrant-founded chain Seabra Foods will take over the Hunters Creek location near Orlando.

Aldi, which also owns Trader Joe’s, stated they plan to buy the Sarasota, Venice, Coral Springs, Oakland Park, Vineland and Colonial Landing locations. The Clermont, Naples, Neptune Beach, Orlando and Ormond Beach locations will become Publix super markets.
