Tampa Bay area pizza parlor is putting lost dog fliers on their boxes

Brancato’s is the first pizzeria to strike up a partnership with Lost Pet Services Inc.

Brancato’s Brick Oven Pizza of Bradenton struck up a partnership with Lost Pet Services Inc. in the hopes of reuniting lost pups with their owners through the power of pizza.

Each pizza box from Brancato’s comes with a flier for a lost dog in the area, and is complete with a color photo, contact information and details about the lost pup and its last known whereabouts.

Brancato’s is the first pizzeria to strike up a partnership with Lost Pet Services Inc., according to a Facebook post from Brancato’s co-owner Paul Halvorsen. “We think that it’s very important that lost animals get reunited with their families,” co-owner of the family-owned pizzeria Alex Christianson told Fox 35.

Lost Pet Services Inc. is a nonprofit in Manatee and Sarasota Counties that is seeking to returning lost pets to their owners through Facebook outreach, community partnerships and preventative measures. The nonprofit told the station that it has reunited about 10,000 lost pets with their owners in Sarasota and Manatee counties since 2016.

“(The) long-term goal will be to help reduce the number of pets/strays brought into our overcrowded local shelters by offering free microchips and ID tags,  vet care for injured strays if the case arises, support for those in the community having financial difficulties with shelter reclaim fees and educational resources and supplies throughout our community,” according to the Lost Pet Services Inc. website.
