The Florida Strawberry Growers Association has teamed up with 11 local eateries to present Florida Strawberry Restaurant Week. Running for two weeks, this inaugural promotion will highlight dishes and drinks that incorporate those fresh little red orbs from Jan. 21 to Feb. 3.

Menu items up for grabs include charred tuna with whipped potatoes, spinach and strawberry ancho salsa, strawberry roasted almond Vietnamese salad, New York-style cheesecake with house-made strawberry topping, strawberry lime caipiroska, and strawberry shortcake.

Here’s a list of the participating restaurants: Bamboozle Cafe (Tampa), Frenchy’s Original Cafe (Clearwater Beach), Grace (St. Pete Beach), Johnson Barbeque (Plant City), Mad Dogs & Englishmen (Tampa), Noble Crust (St. Petersburg), Oggi Italian (Tampa), RumFish Grill (St. Pete Beach), Southern Bay Bakery (St. Pete), Splitsville Southern + Social (Tampa), and Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse (Tampa).

“Chefs love to be creative and find new ways to include fresh Florida strawberries into their menus,” said Sue Harrell, director of marketing for the Florida Strawberry Growers Association, in a statement. “We are excited to work with these great restaurants to promote our locally grown, seasonally fresh strawberries during Florida Strawberry Restaurant Week.”

Eating out isn’t the only thing diners are encouraged to do. The Florida Strawberry Growers Association has also challenged them to compete for prizes.

To become eligible, they must take selfies with the beverages or bites they order during Florida Strawberry Restaurant Week, then share their photos on Facebook and Instagram (and other social media platforms) with #FLStrawberrySelfie2019. Every post earns them points, and the diner with the most will score a VIP weekend for two at St. Pete Beach resort TradeWinds.

The Florida Strawberry Growers Association plans to announce its winner next month.
