Tampa ranks No. 2 in Best Beer Town battle

Tampa (well, really Tampa Bay) was named the second-place winner in USA Today and 10Best's Best Beer Town competition, which kicked off its online voting Sept. 15.

The region beat out other U.S. craft brew hot spots such as Fort Collins, Colorado, and Asheville, North Carolina.

"Tampa is home to more than 30 breweries and brew pubs," reads 10Best's description of the city on its website, "With more opening every day.

"The inventive and progressive lineup of breweries started in 'Cigar City' keeps the offerings fresh and relevant, while the Florida sunshine makes Tampa an excellent place for enjoying a brew outdoors, even in the dead of winter."

Here's the full list of winning cities:

1. Grand Rapids, Michigan
2. Tampa
3. Asheville, North Carolina
4. Bend, Oregon
5. Fort Collins, Colorado
6. San Diego
7. Portland, Maine
8. Portland, Oregon
9. Denver
10. Burlington, Vermont
