Gone are the days of Tampeños crossing bridges into Sarasota or St. Petersburg to make the trek over to Poppo’s Taqueria.

The local chain’s first Tampa location is set to soft open in the old Holy Hog BBQ spot at 302 E Kennedy Blvd. on Aug. 16.

The spot’s hours are temporarily 11 a.m.-3 p.m. due to short staffing, according to the Tampa Bay Times, but will expand to 11 a.m.-9 p.m. once all the necessary spots are filled.

You won’t have to sacrifice any burritos in the meantime, though. All the Mexican street food offerings are still going to be available.

The Tampa location marks the eighth Poppo’s in the Bay. There’s one at 1033 Central Ave. in St. Pete., and then six others spread across Sarasota, Anna Maria and Bradenton.
