Tampa Heights is getting a drive-in movie theater this fall, sort of.

Popular food hall Armature Works teamed up with Los Angeles-based Rooftop Cinema Club to bring a drive-in theater experience from Oct. 15-Nov. 1. A family-friendly movie will be shown each night at 7:30 p.m. followed by another movie at 10 p.m.

The event will feature a variety of movies including Halloween classics and family-friendly flicks, according to the Rooftop Cinema Club website. All the usual Armature Works restaurants will be selling food through an online ordering system which will notify a customer when their order is ready to pick up. Patrons can also order standard movie concessions via the contactless system.

The drive-in is a way to enjoy an “away-from-home” evening all while practicing social distancing from the safety of one’s own car, according to Rooftop Cinema Club. Guests will be required to wear a mask whenever they exit their vehicle.

Viewers will have a nighttime view of the Tampa skyline and the Hillsborough River as they watch the film on a 52-foot screen. The audio can be accessed through an FM transmitter radio.

Program details will be released next week at rooftopcinemaclub.com/armature. The event is first-come-first-serve until the space is full, and tickets are $22-34 per vehicle. Guests can create an account with Rooftop Cinema Club now to be notified when tickets and programs are announced and get 10% of their first purchase.
