Life in downtown Tampa is a far cry from where it was just a few years ago thanks to the influx of condos and neighborhood bars now lining the streets.

In years past, the downtown area offered the business crowd few lunch options during the week and resembled a ghost town on the weekends and at night. Now it looks like those days might be numbered.

Taps Wine & Beer Merchants, a wine- and beer-focused eatery, located at 777 N. Ashley Drive in downtown Tampa,  set the example for other businesses to follow when they opened up three years ago in an unstable market.

Jamie Pellizzi, co-owner of Taps, knows it was a tough opening but “people are always going to be drinking,” he said.
