Over the weekend, several breweries in the area were recognized by Best Florida Beer.

More than 20 locals walked away with nods from the most prestigious professional brewing competition in Florida during Sunday's Brewers Ball.

Hosted at Water Works Park in Tampa, the Brewers Ball, an annual sampling of winning craft beers from the Best Florida Beer Championships' commercial competition as well as an awards ceremony, recognized brewers on both sides of the bay for their specialty entries, which ranged from porters and cider to mead and IPAs.

Pinellas Ale Works, Angry Chair, Southern Brewing, Six Ten, Escape Brewing, Motorworks, Cigar City, Green Bench, Zephyrhills Brewing, Tampa Bay BrewCo and Mastry's Brewing took home gold medals in a few cases, more than one.

And this year's Best in Show accolades went to Green Bench (Best Cider/Mead), Motorworks (Best Large Brewery and Best Beer runner-up), Cigar City (Best Small Batch Beer second runner-up), and Angry Chair (Best Small Batch Beer runner-up), alongside Vero Beach's Walking Tree Brewery (Best Small Brewery and Best Beer in Florida), Jacksonville's Wicked Barley Brewing Company (Best Brewpub and Best Small Batch Beer in Florida), and Longwood-based Hourglass Brewery (Best Beer second runner-up).

Check out Tampa Bay's lineup of medal winners below, or the full list via Best Florida Beer.
