The Heights annual fall festival returns to Tampa next month

Complete with a pumpkin patch, brews, and a food drive benefitting Metropolitan Ministries.

That slight change in temp means that fall has officially hit Florida. And it’s about damn time. To celebrate, The Heights is hosting its annual two-day fall festival on October 10 and 11.

Hosted on the Armature Works’ pier, you and the fam can grab your obligatory pumpkin patch pic for the family photo album (and your Instagram). By the way, you can even recreate a shoot at home, as pumpkins will be on sale.

The festival is happening from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, hosting live music, craft brews (with Oktoberfest options), sno-cones, kettle corn and access to all of the Armature Works’ food stalls. Just a heads up, there will be fewer community activities to obey social distancing and for the safety of both employees and attendees.

To continue with the theme of the giving season, Armature Works is hosting the annual canned food drive to benefit Metropolitan Ministries. Attendees who donate five or more non-perishable food items at the festival will receive a voucher for a complimentary 81Bay beer.

The Metropolitan Ministries food assistance program fed over 35,000 families last year, and the local nonprofit’s Coronavirus Disease Response Initiative has provided meals and home deliveries to those in need. Some of the most notable accomplishments from the initiative are serving 567,000 grab-and-go meals as well as paid $1,728,806 directly to landlords and utility companies to prevent homelessness.

Nothing like helping someone in need and receiving a free brew. Talk about instant karma.

Please, people, just because regulations are beginning to lift and Florida is now in Phase 3 of reopening, be sure to keep your space, avoid large crowds (the gourds aren’t going anywhere) and if you feel under the weather - stay home.

Armature Works is located at 1910 N. Ola Ave. in Tampa.
