St. Petersburg’s favorite general store just opened its second location in the Grand Central District at 2361 1st Ave. S.
This rendition of Pete’s General is a lot less bodega-esque and a lot more focused on its signature baked goods. Whether you’re looking for fresh bagels, biscuits, coffee cake or croissants, this manatee-manned storefront will be waiting to greet you with coffee in hand.
In April, co-owner Steven Peterman told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay to expect some surprises on top of these baked goods, and it seems like Pete’s is already getting started. A July 7 social story teased that the Croque Monsieur from fellow St. Pete bakery Le Clementine Bake Shop (with smoked ham sourced from Tampa’s Boozy Pig) would be available pretty soon.
Collabs similar to this one are common for Pete’s General, but they aren’t always built around food. Opening day featured bouquets from St. Pete-based Amanda’s Flower Co.
The hours at Pete’s General’s new location match its first location (uptown at 495 7th Ave. N)—both are open seven days a week from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., or until product sells out.
