A new program from Farm Sanctuary is encouraging people to have a heart-to-heart conversation over a vegan meal.
These "Compassionate Meals," as the national farm animal rescue, education and advocacy nonprofit calls them, have been shared by hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and actor-rapper DoBoy, among others, on video — most recently filmmaker and avowed meat eater Kevin Smith and his vegan daughter Harley Quinn.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BNZ6hpFjdzvKevin, who visited Tampa with his mom back in November for the Dolly Parton concert, sat down with Harley Quinn at Los Angeles-based Doomie's Home Cookin', discussing everything from whether or not animals have souls to appreciating vegan food for what it is (rather than constantly comparing it to meat).
Check out the short video of the Smiths, directed by @SmasherBrown, below. Those headed out for their own compassionate eats and conversation should share the experience on social media with the hashtag #CompassionateMeals.
