Friday, July 8: Cafe Ponte
The Mango Hometown Tour is making a stop in Tampa this weekend, bringing mango goodness and showcasing the many uses of this tropical fruit. As part of this event, Chef Ferrell Alvarez of Cafe Dufrain and Chef Chris Ponte of Cafe Ponte will pay homage to Tampa's diverse culinary roots by competing at Cafe Ponte in an "Iron Chef" battle of sorts with the not-so-secret ingredient being, you guessed it, mango. Event participants will have the chance to taste the fruits of their labor and decide whose dish best highlights the key ingredient and captures Tampa’s local food flair. Attend week one of this international educational wine series and sample wines from Tuscany. Hosted by Time for Wine and AAA of Carrollwood, this four-part series will "tour" the wine regions of Tuscany, Spain, Argentina and Australia, as well as educate participants about the area, its culture, history and special sites to visit.
