This weekend at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival: Buccaneer Beer Fest, BBQ and chili cook-off

The 33rd season of the Bay Area Renaissance Festival runs every weekend from Saturday, March 26th, until Sunday, April 17th, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., as well as on Friday, March 11th for schools and senior day, and on St. Patrick's Day from 5-10 p.m. Admission at the gate is $17.95 for adults, $9.95 for children 5-12, children 4 and under are free. This marks the opening weekend of the Bay Area Renaissance Festival, taking place once again in the "Village of Fittleworth" (a.k.a.: the grounds next MOSI). The 2nd Annual Buccaneer Beer Fest, BBQ Competition and Chili Cook-Off is taking place at the fest this weekend.

Attendees will be able to witness and taste the barbecue and chili entries from over a dozen restaurants, chefs and home cooks who are battling it out for trophies and bragging rites. Local contestants include BJ's Alabama Barbecue, Holy Hogs, Jimbo's Pit BBQ and more. Free samples will be available from the vendors, as well as full-size portions for sale. The judging will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
