Wanna drink wine in Wonderland? You can starting at 6 p.m. Oct. 29, when St. Petersburg's Winesmith is set to host the Mad Hatter's Wine Party whose tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.
More than 1,000 people have themselves marked as "interested" in the Grand Central District wine shop and bar's Halloween wine sampling and costume party on Facebook, so tickets — which cost $20 — are limited to 100.
The Hatter (Winesmith owner Todd Smith) plans to highlight six "mad" wines, eccentric or otherwise, throughout his Wonderland-inspired tasting. Guests decked out in costumes that fit the theme will land a $10 credit that may be used toward any wine purchase (wines by the glass included).
Judged by the Hatter, the evening's costume contest will be announced at 9 p.m. Winners in the Best Alice in Wonderland-Themed Costume, Best "Other" Costume and runner-up categories will each land a prize, choosing from a $50 Winesmith gift card, bottle of 2011 Shafer Napa Valley Merlot and case of pinot grigio.
