The former location of Getaway in South St. Petersburg’s Maximo Marina is being transformed into the new Tiki Docks Skyway Bar and Grill, opening next week.

The restaurant, set to open July 28, was initially planned to open in Riverview. Now, the Maximo Marina will house Tiki Dock’s first location, while the Riverview spot, which has been under construction since 2018, will open in late August.

The 15,000-square-foot restaurant’s transformation into the tropical-inspired Tiki Docks was around a $500,000 investment, Marc Brown, president of parent company 23 Restaurant Services told the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

"It has a lot of outdoor seating and in this environment, we feel like that can potentially be a benefit," Brown said. "We have some work to do there to rebuild the business. At the end of the day, we understand that that community is going to be dialed into service and price."

Tiki Dock has boasted menu items on Facebook like the Perfect 10 Dockwich, a raw bar and colorful cocktails served in tiki glasses.
