Tonight's Top Chef Just Desserts episode preview: The sweet and sassy premiere

Taking on America’s Sweet Tooth

Everyone’s Favorite Ingredient

Finally, pastry chefs will get their just deserts and show the culinary world they mean business — and I'm not talking about competing in some frou-frou cake wars type show either Top Chef: Just Desserts premieres tonight, pitting twelve pastry chefs against one another for $100,000 and the title of Top Pastry Chef.

After the bland season of Top Chef: D.C. we just experienced, the preview videos below make Just Desserts look like a refreshing new incarnation of the Emmy-winning series, full of drama (be it created in the editing room or not) and a whole lot of sass.

Top Chef judge Gail Simmons will be hosting and judging along with Hubert "Culinary Badass" Keller, Johnny "The Hottest Pastry Chef in the World" Iuzzini, and Dannielle Kyrillos of DailyCandy (I don't know her well enough to give her a snarky nickname yet).

I think the biggest sassy pants of them all, Zac Young, sums up the feel of the show best when he says, "being a pastry chef isn't all fondant and frosting," in the preview below.

Check out the preview videos below.
