This week's episode of Top Chef Masters was phase one of the Champions Round. The final eight chefs standing were Rick Moonen, Susan Feniger, Marcus Samuelsson, Jody Adams, Susur Lee, Jonathan Waxman, Carmen Gonzalez, and Tony Mantuano.
The Quickfire Challenge revisited the blindfolded relay race cook-off that we saw in the last season of Top Chef. Two teams were formed, each team member had 10 minutes to cook parts of a dish that would then be finished by the next teammate, while those who were waiting for their turn had to be blindfolded. Jonathan Waxman (a.k.a.: Obi Wan Chefnobi) wasn't really feeling the whole blindfold bit and proceeded to get all hot and bothered because of it (not in the good way).
Wedding Wars was the theme of the Elimination Challenge, and each team had to cook for 150 people (including creating a wedding cake) at the reception of a couple of pretty fussy eaters. It seemed that the chefs went either way when preparing dishes for this challenge: they either made something that the couple specifically said they wanted (despite maybe having never made it before) or they went their own way and cooked dishes they felt would be sufficient for the challenge, not taking the couple's tastes in mind.
