It's Taco Tuesday, as those carnitas-obsessed folks in our lives like to say. And lucky for us, tequila is involved.
Two Bay area restaurants — one in Hillsborough, the other in Pinellas — have tequila-fueled gatherings in store for tonight, so plan accordingly.
From 5 to 10 p.m., Seminole Heights-based Ox & Fields is set to observe co-managing partner and executive chef Viet Vo's "30... something" birthday with three T's. The celebration, dubbed "Tacos, Tequila, and Tito's," will offer $2 tacos, $3 tequila shots and $5 Tito's Handmade Vodka cocktails throughout the evening.
In addition to those specials, $2 Tecate and Bud Light, as well as $3 offers on brews like Miller High Life, Barley Mow Brewing Company Americana Golden Ale, Tampa Bay Brewing Company Old Elephant Foot and 3 Daughters Brewing Beach Blonde Ale will be on hand. Plus, stop by in time for happy hour to nab $5 cocktails and exclusive bar menu items.
Red Mesa Cantina, which also has a tequila pours planned between 7 and 8 p.m., knows a thing or two about the beloved Mexican spirit. The downtown St. Pete restaurant will showcase free samples of Don Julio Tequila's plata, reposado and añejo offerings during its monthly tasting.
This time around, the event's drawing has a special prize, a 750-mililiter bottle of Don Julio Añejo Tequila, up for grabs. Reservations should be made by phone. Snag a taco while you're there.
