Urban Brew and BBQ to move in with St. Petersburg sibling Urban Comfort

The restaurant aims to reopen early next year.

St. Petersburg's Urban Brew and BBQ is leaving its five-year Grand Central District home, but thankfully, not the neighborhood altogether. The popular barbecue restaurant at 1939 Central Ave. plans to move in with younger (and larger) sibling Urban Comfort, which is located up the road at 2601 Central Ave.

Facebook fans of Urban Brew and BBQ, opened by founder Andy Salyards in June 2013, first learned of the relocation Nov. 1. Last week, they also scored a sneak peek of a new dish, deep-fried and smoked baby back ribs, that the restaurant will pair with Iron Smoke, an applewood-smoked whiskey, from its forthcoming bourbon list.

As a last hurrah before the move, Urban Brew and BBQ will host its "MOOOOOving Party" from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23. Guests are invited to down 'cue and craft beer — expect a $21 kill-the-keg deal and a $15 buffet — while reminiscing about the restaurant's OG location. T-shirt giveaways are also in store.

Urban Brew and BBQ aims to reopen at Urban Comfort the first week of January.

"We love you all and thank you for your continued support!" reads a portion of the upcoming celebration's Facebook event description. "Stay tuned for more details to really make this a fun blow out party!"
