Downtown St. Pete's Vinoy Renaissance Resort & Golf Club will throw its annual Global Day of Discovery gathering, now in its fourth year, at the on-site Marchand's Bar & Grill from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 11.
More than 150 Renaissance hotels scattered around 35 locales will accompany the Vinoy in the daylong celebration that urges guests to get out and experience the cities they're staying in.
Dressed in their favorite 1920s getups, regionites who purchase tickets will snag tastes from local chefs and bartenders, who are set to battle it out in a classic cocktail competition. The bartenders, using Nolet's gin, will give their Prohibition beverages a modern spin, while the chefs pair their grub with the concoctions.
Keeping pace with the evening's theme, which pays homage the Vinoy's 90th anniversary, the Bay Kings Band will showcase sounds from the '20s to now.
