A Treasure Island staple, VIP Mexican American Cuisine, is growing with a second location on Indian Rocks Beach. Scheduled to make its debut in March 2021, the restaurant is setting up shop within the former Aqua Prime Seafood & Steaks Restaurant at 213 Gulf Blvd. An added bonus is a parking lot for guests to avoid the nightmare of finding street parking.
According to its website, VIP has been on the scene since the 1970s. The casual full-service restaurant is known for slinging a variety of dishes like tacos, chimichangas, tamales, Mexican pizza and fat platters. If you have a massive appetite, opt for the wet burrito, a house favorite made with your choice of protein along with cheese wrapped in a flour tortilla and smothered with red burrito sauce and melted cheese. The dish is served with a bed of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, black olives and a cup of sour cream to build your own bites.
VIP also has a section on the menu dedicated to "Gringo Food" with options like a jumbo hot dog, burger and chicken tenders. More eats that lend themselves to American dishes include chicken wings, and a Philly Steak Burrito filled with grilled steak, sautéed onions, mushrooms, Swiss and American cheese and served with french fries.
For dessert, diners can snag churros or a helping of Mexican fried ice cream.
Until then, you can work your way through VIP's menu at its Treasure Island location at 10625 Gulf Blvd. open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. seven days a week.
