In honor of CL's impending Burger Week, here are two fast-casual restaurant chains serving up new items between two buns.

The Connecticut-based Wayback Burgers, which specializes in old-fashioned burgers and milkshakes, is offering its Sriracha-driven crispy chicken sandwich through Dec. 31.

The cult condiment is used in the sandwich's creamy sauce, grilled onions and bun, as well as fries coated in a Sriracha seasoning. Fried chicken tenders, pepper jack, lettuce and tomato finish off the sando's dressings.

Plant City is home to Wayback's sole Bay area location.

Meanwhile, Mellow Mushroom — a Southeast pizza purveyor with restaurants in Brandon, Clearwater and Tampa — has added beef and veggie burgers to its lineup of eats.

The Herb veggie patty incorporates kale, quinoa, roasted mushroom, brown rice and other seasonings and veggies, and it's paired with Cheddar, romaine, tomato, avocado and sweet onions. Made of Black Angus beef, the Carnie calls for Swiss, caramelized onions, pickles, romaine, tomato and garlic aioli.

Before joining the menu permanently, both items were previewed at select Mellow Mushrooms in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and Texas over the summer.
