Five ways to eat (and drink) your heart out this weekend.
Cheers to another workweek’s end at Friday Fill Up with Pair O’ Dice Brewing Company. From 3 to 11 p.m. Friday, craft beer lovers can fill a 32-ounce growler with anything on tap (aside from Pit Boss and nitro drafts), including some suds that were previously unavailable to-go. Local vendor Gizzy’s is on-site hanging out, too, for anyone looking to get their Chicago-style hot dog on. Free, money for beer and food. 4400 118th Ave. N. #208, Clearwater, 727-755-3423.
In downtown Safety Harbor, don’t miss the Pizza Cones Grand Opening. Guests of the new family restaurant celebrate with classic pie combos packed into cone-shaped pizza crusts (vegetarian options are available), as well as indulgent dessert cones filled with either a Nutella cream or Boston cream base. The event runs from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday. Free, money for food. 500 Main St. #C, Safety Harbor, 727-351-5878.
Stick around for the 2nd Annual Bands & Beer on the Bay, hosted at Safety Harbor Waterfront Park between 4 and 10 p.m. Saturday. This charitable event highlights craft beer, a chicken wing competition, local food trucks and live music. Bands include the Black Honkeys, Jeriko Turnpike and Four Star Riot, while Crooked Thumb Brewery, Ed's Fine Wines and MillerCoors round out the beverage lineup. And that wing throwdown? The crowd determines the Fan Favorite by eating their way around unlimited samples from food slingers like Dochos Latin Bistro, Southern Fresh and Abe's Place Tap & Grill; every six tasting tickets an attendee purchases count as one vote. The event benefits the Mattie Williams Neighborhood Family Center and Kiwanis Club of Safety Harbor. Tickets are available online. $5 for general admission, $60 for VIP. 110 Veterans Memorial Lane, Safety Harbor.
Where’s the beef? All over the 6th Annual Burger Showdown at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. A burger sampling ticket gets spectators one sample from each of the competing locals — EATS! American Grill, Rolling Gourmet, Just Grillin, Martha's Family Restaurant and RyRy's Chicken & Waffles among them — and the ability to vote for their favorite, ultimately crowning the People’s Choice. A panel of judges selects the winners in five additional categories, including Best Burger in the Bay, Best Beef Burger and Bring the Heat. A portion of the proceeds benefit the VooDoo Chef Foundation. Burger sampling: $22 in advance, $25 the day of; drinks: $14 for 2 in advance. 600 N. Ashley Drive, Tampa.
Yogis and brunchers unite! The Bricks puts on Bend & Brunch from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday. The menu features brunch items like shrimp ‘n’ grits and biscuits and veggie gravy. Free, money for brunch. 1327 E. Seventh Ave., Tampa, 813-247-1785.
