Weekend Platter: Wine tasting, Beer Olympics & more

If your Valentine's Day weekend isn't booked up yet , here are five more ways to get down with food and drink around the bay.

From 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, check out the Local Evolution Craft Market at Bradenton's Darwin Brewing Co. This monthly market features local farmers and artisans, food, live sounds and, of course, craft beer. Guests will munch on bites from POLPO Pizza Co., Ray's Vegan Soul and more, and don't forget to bring Fido and the little ones along.  Free, money for goodies. 803 17th Ave. W., Bradenton, 941-747-1970.

Premium offerings from Spain and Portugal will be at the center of the  Cappuccino's Fine Wine and Espresso Bar 's benefit tasting for the Equestrian Inc. horse rescue. At 7 p.m. Friday, guests can also expect fresh fruit and cheeses, and reservations are recommended. $20. 733 Broadway, Dunedin, 727-738-8009.

Get on over to Yard of Ale in Tarpon Springs from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday for the bar's inaugural  Beer Olympics . Beer lovers will compete in events like beer pong, flip cup and cornhole, and three winning teams of four will walk away with trophies (and bragging rights). Beer is included.  $10 in advance, $15 at the door. 606 N. Pinellas Ave., Tarpon Springs, 727-939-4281.

Also happening between 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, celebrate Six Ten Brewing 's second year in Tampa with live music and draft brews. Fare from Savory Pockets and Engine 53 Pizza will also be available, and guests should bring their IDs and cash, preferably.  Free, money for beer and food. 7052 Benjamin Road, Tampa, 813-886-0610.

Choose from a selection of meals on wheels dished by Brain Freeze Italian Ice, Moca Loka Frappe, Light My Fire Pizza and Zesty Tsunami. The recurring Lutz food truck event is held the second and last Saturday of every month. Free, money for food. 206 Newberger Road, Lutz.
