A four-time World Food Championships finalist plans to share her kitchen secrets with Tampa this weekend. Amy Freeze is a high school English teacher in Avon Park moonlighting as a culinary expert, so who better to preach the gospel of elevated meals to a bunch of home cooks than this Florida resident?
Freeze's interactive cooking demonstration is planned for noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, and Sunday, Sept. 16, at a local Walmart (1505 N. Dale Mabry Highway). The co-creator of food blog Gourmet Everyday will showcase affordable and competition-quality recipes that those in attendance are inspired to pull off on their own, alongside free samples.
Later this year, Freeze is scheduled to battle it out in Alabama during the World Sandwich Championship, part of the larger World Food Championships competition.
World Food Championships is the biggest "Food Sport" event around. The competition has awarded almost $2 million in cash and prizes since its inception in 2012.
