In Tampa, WTR Pool & Grill plans to host a fundraiser for a local woman who was recently injured in a car crash.

It’s gonna be a long road to recovery for Rochelle Alvarez, according to her GoFundMe page, as the accident has left the Tampa resident out of work for six months while she heals. But WTR — fka Beach Bar & Restaurant at The Godfrey Hotel & Cabanas Tampa — hopes to alleviate Alvarez’s stress through its benefit, which takes place from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday.

The money collected through cover charges and donations will go toward her recovery.

Alvarez’s fundraiser, which is set to feature signature cocktails, fireworks and poolside food, is the first in a series of charitable events that WTR plans to organize. Hosted on a weekly basis, “Pay it Forward Fridays” allow the new waterfront venue to give back to the community.

“At WTR, we want to support our community and its people beyond the pool and kitchen,” according to a statement from Michael Piper, brand ambassador for WTR. “When we heard about Rochelle’s accident and how her recovery would keep her from working to provide for her [niece], we decided we had to help in any way we could.”

Can’t make it to the benefit? Make an online donation to Alvarez through her GoFundMe, which has reached more than $13,000 of its $25,000 goal.
