Good news for diners who spend their free time searching for their next favorite taqueria: A little place called Xtreme Tacos, which held its grand opening in late February, is serving up a flavorful fusion of Mexican-American eats at 310 E. Waters Ave.

Although the menu boasts 30-plus options and that doesn't include the kid selections  the type of ingredients featured in each item aren't really what put the "Xtreme" in Xtreme Tacos; it's how generously they're used. Everything from the restaurant's namesake to its tostadas is liberally covered in ingredients like queso fresco, pico de gallo and thinly shredded cabbage. And who's complaining?

Among the many highlights priced between about $2 and $12: The munchies-curing Stoner Burrito (a pound of your choice of meat, Mexican rice, black beans, fries, cabbage, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole and queso fresco); veggie torta (roasted and stuffed poblano pepper topped with black beans, cabbage, pico de gallo, sour cream, avocado and queso fresco); Buffalo sopes (house-made thick tortillas topped with tempura-battered shrimp or breaded chicken, spicy buffalo sauce, cabbage, pico de gallo, sour cream and queso fresco); elotes, a popular street food (roasted corn topped with mayo, queso fresco and chile); and chile relleno bowl (Mexican rice, black beans and roasted poblano pepper stuffed with queso blanco, topped with cabbage, pico de gallo, sour cream, avocado and queso fresco).

Xtreme Tacos, which announced earlier this week that it's now open on Mondays, operates from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Sunday. Diners can order takeout through delivery services like UberEATS and Amazon Restaurants, but the new restaurant also makes its own deliveries nearby for a small fee.
