Locals will likely find themselves saying, "Laissez les bon temps rouler!" during the grand opening celebration for Zydeco Brew Werks. With doors scheduled to open at 11:30 a.m. Friday, the bash formally commemorates the debut of the Ybor City brewery — which soft-launched in March — with specialty tappings, Eddie's New Orleans Jazz Band and swag giveaways.

And that's not all. Zydeco plans to bring a 6 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony to its headquarters at 1902 E. Seventh Ave., alongside the taproom's live tunes and house beer spearheaded by award-winning brewer Paul Rutherford.

Plus, in case you missed CL's previous coverage of the newcomer, a lineup of craft cocktails and Cajun fare (think shrimp 'n' grits, muffuletta and baked oysters) are also on hand.

As for the unopened upstairs portion of the two-level Zydeco, aka "phase two," that's where the restaurant and full menu of NOLA-inspired dishes — not to mention another bar — are planned. We hear the wait time on the second floor is anywhere from six months to a year.
