Silverstein celebrates its 25th anniversary by taking the meaning of “double-album” to a different level.

Antibloom / Pink Moon—said to encapsulate the lessons members of the Canadian rock outfit have learned and musical styles they’ve picked up since coming together so young—is billed as one album to be released in two separate installments. Antibloom drops next month, and while there’s currently no solid release date for Pink Moon, it should be out by year’s end.

UPDATE This show was rescheduled to Dec. 13, 2025.

In the meantime, Silverstein’s first local gig since a 2021 stop in the same space promises a career retrospective stretching from to the band’s emo debut When Broken Is Easily Fixed to the two singles put out to promote Antibloom.

Ahead of this show, frontman Shane Told, err, told CL about a Weezer show in Japan being the best gig he ever saw.

Tickets to see Silverstein play St. Pete’s Jannus Live on Wednesday, Jan. 22 are still available and cost $34.50.

The best gig I ever saw was Weezer in Japan in 2008. We were opening for Avril Lavigne and had an off day in Tokyo. Weezer happened to be playing and they snuck us in the backdoor to watch. They started the show in a very unorthodox way, with a bunch of Japanese student musicians playing classic Weezer songs on a variety of instruments with them in the middle of the arena. After 3-4 stripped down songs, they marched to the stage and just absolutely rocked.

Rivers Cuomo wore knee pads and was sliding around everywhere, and they had an extra drum kit for him, which he would randomly play. Once in a while their bass player would sing, but it seemed all completely unplanned, and the show was completely unhinged. They even covered “Creep” by Radiohead. But what amazed me most was that Rivers spoke Japanese to the crowd throughout the entire show! It seemed as though he was completely fluent.

The show reminded me that fans really enjoy seeing something unique and special. It doesn’t always matter how well you play or sing, it’s about having an absolutely one-of-a-kind moment with the crowd. Something they’ll never forget. I know I never will.—Shane Told, Silverstein
