Big Guava Music Fest isn’t coming back to Tampa this spring, but that doesn’t mean Florida is losing its luster when it comes to large music festivals across the state. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Okeechobee, Moonstone, Ultra, Mindpsring, Gasparilla and more have all played a part in shoehorning the two-year-old Guava out of its home at the Florida State Fairgrounds.

But, if paying hundred(s) just to shuffle around the dirt to check out your favorite bands from a football field’s length away doesn’t sound too appealing, there are plenty of more intimate music experiences (like McDonald's-themed cover band, Mac Sabbath) coming to the bay area in 2016.

The latest: Alabama Shakes, which has just confirmed a date at the Cuban Club in Ybor City on Friday, April 29 — one night before WMNF'S longstanding Tropical Heatwave Music Festival takes over the place and surrounding venues in Ybor.

They’ll appear at the club almost a year after the release of their spine-tingling-ly good 2015 album Sound & Color. And, if any video of any live performance is any indication (see below), we’re in for a treat.

They’ll be joined by opener Dylan Leblanc. Tickets go on sale this Friday, January 22, at 10 a.m. Strangely, no prices have been listed as yet. Visit the ticket page for more information.
