Chase Shakur has come a long way since he kicked off his career doing underground cyphers in Atlanta.

The 24-year-old—who opened for The Kid Laroi the last time he was in town—has since discovered that he’s a beast of an R&B singer, and cites the themes of being infatuated in Stevie Wonder’s music as a huge influence for the ideas behind his latest album Wonderlove, which might already be one of the best albums of 2025.

Shakur—who is not related to Tupac, folks—feels like those themes are what modern R&B is missing, and with the trend of young artists helping to redefine a genre by turning back the clock a little bit, you might get to witness a guy who’ll be playing much bigger rooms by the time the decade is out.
