Chick Corea is no stranger to the Tampa Bay concert scene, but the pandemic is putting his next local concert in a venue he’s never played before.
Today, Clearwater’s Ruth Eckerd Hall announced that the Grammy-winning jazz pianist will play two “Chick Corea: Solo Piano—From Mozart To Monk” shows in its Kate Tiedemann And Ellen Cotton Cabaret Theatre. Both shows are at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23 and Saturday, Oct. 24.
Corea just released a new album, Plays, which features solo piano takes on classical and jazz pieces from some of his favorites including Scarlatti, Chopin, Bill Evans, and Thelonious Monk.
The cabaret setup, which Ruth Eckerd Hall has successfully implemented in its return from COVID-19 shutdown, means required table reservations ($160-$275). Each table can accommodate up to four people, and the VIP options include up-front seating and a signed CD along with the charcuterie tray and table side service that comes with every reservation.
Face masks are required for entry, and Ruth Eckerd Hall is practicing social distancing as well as expanded sanitation practices. Tickets to see Chick Corea play Ruth Eckerd Hall's Kate Tiedemann And Ellen Cotton Cabaret Theatre in Clearwater, Florida on Oct. 23-24 are available via rutheckerdhall.com.
