Creative Loafing has officially launched our 2014 Holiday Auction today, and the sixth annual edition is looking to be the best one yet. Yeah, yeah, we say that every year, but this time we really, really mean it.
Over the last five auctions, CL readers have helped us raise $85,000 to benefit The Children's Home, which has been serving Bay area children and families via prevention and outreach programs for more than a century. This year, we hope to jack that up to $100,000. Our auctions are on eBay — you can link to them right here — and each set of items (from gifts to services to full-scale experiences) can be bid on for 10 days before a new auction with different items goes live. I'll be posting details about all music related stuff here on Ear Buds each week so you can keep track of what's going on and pick out that perfect gift for your loved one this holiday season.
This week, the one music related item up for bid is a big one: Two days of studio time at Rock Garden Recording.
Two days is enough time to cut a three-to-five-song demo or fine-tune the hell out of a few singles. The winner of this auction item commandeers 16-20 hours’ worth of studio time with Dan Byers at Rock Garden Recording. Active for several years now, Rock Garden has seen the likes of Zulu Wave, Wolf-Face and New Cathedral come through its doors, among many others. The St. Petersburg studio features state-of-the-art equipment — an industry standard Pro Tools HD system coupled with high-end outboard — and an impressive selection of mics and other high-quality gear.
Value: $800.
