In bizarre debate news, the only reaction worth watching from a musical standpoint is this late 1980s interview with James Brown.

It features the Minister of The New New Super Heavy Funk on CNN after being released on bond after an argument with his wife, Adrienne Brown. According to police, the altercation ended in assault with a lead pipe. Speaking to CNN from Atlanta in 1987, Brown was interviewed by psychologist Dr. Sonya Friedman. In the clip, Brown says he “sings good” and “makes love good,” too.

Most people posted the video in response to republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s bizarre performance at last night’s first presidential debate. Howard Dean took his analysis pretty far, too.

Brown also talks about his gospel magazine and tell’s America that he loves them in the interview. “This is a man’s world,” Brown croons at the end.

“Thanks for reminding us,” Friedman replies, “every once in a while we forget, but we remembered again.”
