A heavily stylized, motion-blurred promotional photograph of the electronic pop duo Purity Ring. The image features a lo-fi, digital glitch aesthetic with horizontal static lines resembling VHS tracking. On the left, Corin Roddick is illuminated by cool, cyan-blue lighting, looking directly at the camera through the haze. On the right, vocalist Megan James is partially obscured in shadow, with warm red lighting hitting her chest and dark hair. The overall atmosphere is moody, ethereal, and cyber-inspired.

There aren’t many vocalists who can navigate electro the way Purity Ring‘s Megan James does. Arriving in 2012 with Shrines, James’ electro duo featuring Corin Roddick spent a decade on the forefront of Pitchfork-favored indie-pop. While copycats have popped up in seemingly every corner of the atmosphere, the band has maintained a loyal fanbase drawn to visually-engaging live shows.

A new, hazy, glitchy single, “Lemonlime,” (stylized all-lowercase) closes the door on the band’s 2025 self-titled record that’ll be the centerpiece of of the setlist at this gig.

Tickets to see Purity Ring play Jannus Live in St. Petersburg on Saturday, May 2 are still available for $43.60 and up.
