The Florida Orchestra (TFO) brings Roald Dahl’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” to life for a one-time performance at St. Petersburg’s Mahaffey Theater on Sunday, May 16.

Daniel Black conducts Jamaican-born Eleanor Alberga’s whimsical score—which first premiered in London in 1994—while Best of the Bay-winning actor Becca McCoy provides narration.

The show is a mixed media event that features Ya La’ford’s mural work with the students from Mt. Zion Christian Academy opening the show with a making-of video “Community Woven” shown while TFO plays Mozart’s iconic overture from “The Marriage of Figaro.”

“Not only did we engage students in the similar process of creating art and music, but we shared how sound and instruments work together in an orchestra to create a richness of overtones and harmony,” La’ford (pictured) said.

The performance runs about an hour and is socially-distanced with open space between each family. Masks are required for anyone older than three. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door. For more information, go to floridaorchestra.org.
