When it comes to OGs of the Bay area folk scene, they don’t get much realer than Geri X, a perennial Best of the Bay-winner who is switching gears a bit and bringing a piano into the Ale & the Witch gallery as she kicks off a month-long Thursday residency.

Known for her clarion call vocal, the 36-year-old born Gergana Micheva will rip your heart out after a support set from young country songwriter Roc Helton. Mark your calendar for the Jan. 29 show, too, as it marks 15 years since Geri X’s first show at the venue.

There is no cover to see Geri X play The Ale & the Witch in St. Petersburg on Thursdays through Jan. 29.
