So the Detroit Lions beat the Minnesota Vikings in a Thanksgiving NFL game today, but all anyone (and by anyone we mean Twitter) could talk about was Aretha Franklin's ridiculously long rendition of the national anthem.
For the record, it clocked in at four minutes and thirty-five seconds.
CBS put a pretty nice roundup of reactions together, which you can read below, and if we're going by USA Today, then Ms. Franklin's performance smashes previous long-anthem records by Alicia Keys and Natalie Cole.
Have we started a trend? Who will really go all the way next year?
Due to the length of Aretha Franklin's national anthem… Both teams have to warm up again. Kick off pushed back half hour #figureitout

Kaepernick would've developed arthritis in his knee for kneeling so long if the 49ers were playing while Aretha Franklin sang the anthem

If Colin Kaepernick took a knee during the Aretha Franklin version of the National Anthem, he'd need an orthopedic surgeon to stand again.
