Greg Marchak, one of the most successful and best-loved Bay area producer/engineers, died unexpectedly after a brain aneurysm in early September. He left behind a litany of fine recordings (some of which paved the way for label deals) and lots of friends, many of whom are gathering for this memorial blowout. Guitarist/singer Damon Fowler is probably our leading blues/roots dynamo. Rock bands Mighty Joe Plum, Sugarspoon and Gunburner all brushed up against national recognition. A few of the acts have reunited specifically for this event. The 2-11 p.m. marathon should be a terrific party with an old-home-week feel. Proceeds go to the USF School of Music in Marchak's name.
